This week on THE Infamous Podcast, Brian and Darryl wade into the bizarre Wolverine and Sabretooth “yearning” discourse surrounding Insomniac’s new Marvel’s Wolverine. Then it’s back to Richmond for Ted Lasso Season 4, Episode 7, before Reacher wraps Season 4 with one appropriately violent finale. Finally, Lanterns blows Rushville to hell, John Stewart questions everything he thought he wanted, and the most powerful weapon in the DC Universe starts looking like something you found at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box.

Wolverine Controversy

Starring: Liam McIntyre as Logan/Wolverine, Krizia Bajos as Jean Grey, with Sabretooth, Mystique, Nathaniel Essex and other X-Men characters appearing in the story. Sony describes the game as an original Wolverine adventure developed by Insomniac in collaboration with Marvel Games.
What the Hell Happened?
The whole thing started with Gene Park’s Washington Post review. While describing Logan and Sabretooth’s long, violent relationship, Park writes about Sabretooth grabbing the back of Logan’s head during a mission in what he describes as a brief moment of “yearning.” Insomniac narrative director Walt Williams then uses the same word while explaining the scene, saying Logan feels that yearning, becomes frightened by it and pulls away. Williams frames the relationship around intertwined love, hate, pain and their long history together.
Predictably, the internet took “Wolverine yearns for Sabretooth” and ran approximately 9,000 miles with it.
Insomniac community and marketing director James Stevenson subsequently clarified that Logan and Sabretooth are not romantically involved, describing their relationship as essentially brothers or best friends with an intensely dysfunctional history. The game itself does not identify Logan as gay or bisexual or give him a male romance.

Episode Synopsis
Alice returns to the team trying to change her approach to life, which eventually collides with Ted’s favorite improvisational philosophy: “Yes, and…” Ted encourages both Alice and the Lady Greyhounds to step outside their comfort zones while the episode digs further into the everyday lives of Richmond’s players.
That means less giant football melodrama and more childcare problems, money problems, transportation problems, relationships, and the realities of trying to build a career in women’s football. Zelda also gets involved when Richmond encounters another problem off the pitch. Meanwhile, Ted takes an awkward swing at getting back into the dating world, while the episode continues moving pieces around Roy, Keeley and their respective relationships.

Episode Synopsis
Season 4 goes out exactly how a Reacher season should: everybody finally understands the conspiracy, talking stops being particularly useful, and Reacher starts solving problems with violence.
The missing drive ultimately points to information capable of recreating a devastating chemical weapon. With the truth finally exposed, Reacher, Tamara and Jacob go on offense. Reacher hunts down the people responsible for Anna’s death while Jacob confronts the truth surrounding his family and Plum gets an opportunity for redemption.

The final confrontation puts Reacher against Lila and Amisha in an abandoned restaurant, complete with karambit knives, a severely wounded Reacher and exactly the kind of ludicrously brutal fight this series has trained us to expect. Reacher ultimately turns the enemy’s own weapon against them and somehow survives yet another situation that should require substantially more than an overnight hospital stay.

Episode Synopsis
Well, that escalated.
“Lights Out” cashes in nearly everything the first four episodes have been building. Rushville mobilizes as the truth about the Macons and the Manhunter comes apart, Hal makes his final push to eliminate the threat, and John is forced to make the decision he’s supposedly spent his entire life preparing for.
Zoe is confirmed as the Manhunter. Rushville gets devastated. Will Macon and Antaan die. John ultimately kills Zoe and takes Hal’s Green Lantern ring, seemingly completing his destiny.
And then he rejects it.
John tells Lianna that after finally putting on the ring, he feels empty. Watching what Hal became while desperately holding onto its power has fundamentally changed how John sees both the ring and the Guardians. He gives up the thing he spent most of his life believing he wanted.
Which brings us directly to this week’s title.
Apparently one of the most powerful weapons in the universe can be handed over, stolen, surrendered, and reassigned with roughly the security protocols of a Cracker Jack prize.
