The jury is still out on Avatar 7H, one prom queen nobody should mess with, and two worlds may have completely lost their minds.
This week on the podcast, The Avatar is back, but apparently saving the world is no longer part of the job description. This week, Brian and Darryl dive into the first three episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens, where being the Avatar is less about bringing balance and more about being public enemy number one. Then they head to Prime Video for Mike Flanagan’s Carrie, where high school bullying, religious fanaticism, and telekinetic rage make for one hell of a coming-of-age story. New Avatar, same terrible people. Different Carrie, same bloody consequences.

– Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White
– Siena Agudong
– Alison Thornton
– Joel Oulette
– Josie Totah
– Arthur Conti
– Thalia Dudek
– Amber Midthunder
– Matthew Lillard
Production Notes:
Mike Flanagan initially resisted revisiting Carrie, believing Brian De Palma’s 1976 film had already delivered a definitive adaptation.
Rather than simply recreating the original, Flanagan shifts the story into the social media era, using the expanded runtime to examine the motivations and vulnerabilities of characters who previously received little development.
Stephen King was actively involved and supported the creative changes. One of the more significant departures is the introduction of additional characters with supernatural abilities, expanding the universe beyond Carrie’s individual experience.
