Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger Paused as States’ Challenge Proceeds

A federal judge has granted a bid from a coalition of 12 states to temporarily stop Paramount from closing its $111 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery.

U.S. District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín on Monday issued a temporary restraining order after the states sued last week. The emergency motion sought to prevent the studio from moving ahead with the merger for 14 days.

“The Court ultimately finds the public interest favors their requested TRO to stay the merger in the interim,” Martínez-Olguín wrote in the order.

Clayface, explores Hagen’s psychological descent from a tragic victim into a revenge-filled monster, delving into themes of lost identity, corrosive love, and the dark side of scientific ambition. While originally pitched as a standalone horror film, it is now framed as the story of a disfigured victim driven by obsession rather than a traditional villain origin. The movie is scheduled for release in theaters on October 23, 2026.

Production Notes:
The Odyssey reunites Christopher Nolan with producer Emma Thomas and the Syncopy team behind Oppenheimer. Nolan wrote, directed, and produced the film, which was shot around the world and became the first feature photographed entirely with IMAX film cameras. The production built much of its ancient world practically and mounted a full-scale, globe-spanning shoot designed to make Odysseus’ voyage feel physical, dangerous, and appropriately enormous.
